The Himalayan cat (known in Europe as the colorpoint Persian) makes a wonderful pet, more than happy to stay in not only in your company but in your lap. The Himalayan cat originates from Persia (now Iran and Iraq) where the cats had a longer coat. The breed was brought to Europe by the Phoenicians and the Romans.

They come in a wide variety of colors beginning with seal, blue, chocolate and lilac points. Following on cam the tortie and flame points, blue-cream, cream, and lynx. The Himalayan cat is a man made breed between a Persian and Siamese. The Persian for the body and longhaired coat and Siamese for the striking blue eyes and variety in colour.
